Treatment of Bee Stings with Eseential Oils

Bee Stings: 

Bee stings bring swelling, pain, and itching with them. If you are suffering from a minor bee sting or even a few stings at once, these remedies will bring rapid relief. Seek medical attention as soon as possible in the event you have been stung by a swarm of bees, or if you are allergic or suspect that you are allergic to bee stings.

Lavender-Chamomile Compress: 

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Lavender and German chamomile essential oils are natural antihistamines that double as anti-inflammatory agents. Roman chamomile essential oil can be used instead of German chamomile essential oil in this treatment.

Ingredients: 

Directions:

  1. In a medium glass bowl, add the water along with 1 drop of lavender essential oil and 1 drop of German chamomile essential oil.
  2. Using your fingertips, apply 1 drop of lavender essential oil directly to the sting, followed by 1 drop of German chamomile essential oil, then the carrier oil.
  3. Submerge a towel in the water, wring it out, and apply the compress to the affected area. Leave the compress in place until it warms to body temperature.
  4. Repeat this treatment once an hour for up to 4 hours as needed.

Basil-Peppermint Bee Sting Relief: 

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Basil and peppermint come together in this remedy to relieve the pain and itching that accompany bee stings.

Ingredients: 

Directions: 

  1. Run cold water over the affected area for 1 minute, then pat dry.
  2. Using your fingertips, apply the basil essential oil, followed by the peppermint essential oil, then the carrier oil.
  3. Repeat this treatment once an hour for up to 12 hours as needed.
