Treatment of Bronchitis with Essential Oils

Bronchitis is an inflammatory disease that affects the respiratory system, causing inflamed bronchial tubes, excess mucus production, and coughing. Acute bronchitis is normally caused by a virus and may accompany an upper respiratory tract infection such as a cold or the flu. It can also occur due to aspiration of liquid or food into the lungs, or following exposure to irritants such as heavy smoke. Cases of acute bronchitis typically last two to three weeks. See your doctor if symptoms do not respond to treatment, as bronchitis symptoms can be an indicator of a more serious underlying disease.
