Treatment of Diaper Rash with Essential Oil

 Diaper Rash: 

Diaper rash makes babies miserable. Mild cases are simply red and itchy and respond very quickly to treatment and improved hygiene. More complicated cases can be very sore and involve blistering. If you suspect an infection is developing, see your baby's pediatrician.

Calming Myrrh Balm: 

MAKES 15 TREATMENTS

Myrrh essential oil contains antifungal and antibacterial constituents and also has a soothing effect on sore skin.

Ingredients: 

  • 5 Tablespoons Coconut Carrier Oil
  • 1 Drop Myrrh Essential Oil

Directions: 

  1. In a wide-mouth glass jar with a lid, add the coconut carrier oil and myrrh essential oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Using your fingertips, apply 1 teaspoon of the balm to the baby's clean, dry bottom after a diaper change.
  3. Repeat this treatment after each diaper change until symptoms subside. If desired, this treatment can be continued as a preventive measure.

Soothing Lavender-Chamomile Baby Balm: 

MAKES 30 TREATMENTS

Lavender and chamomile essential oils soothe and heal tender skin, while coconut carrier oil creates a barrier against further irritation. Jojoba oil can be substituted as a carrier oil if coconut oil isn't available.

Ingredients: 

Directions: 

  1. In a wide- mouth glass jar with a lid, add the coconut carrier oil along with the lavender and roman chamomile oils, and stir to combine.
  2. Using your fingertips, apply 1 teaspoon of the balm to the baby’s clean, dry bottom after a diaper change.
  3. Repeat this treatment after each diaper change until symptoms subside. If desired, the treatment can be continued as preventive measure.
