Allergic rhinitis or hay fever, brings watering eyes, a runny nose, and uncomfortable sneezing. Normally caused by tree, grass or weed pollen, it typically occurs while plants are actively growing. Essential oils effectively soothe hay fever symptoms in most cases if symptoms persist, you may need to see your doctor for something stronger.
Niaouli essential oil is an extremely powerful decongestant with strong antiseptic properties. It is an excellent remedy for alleviating the sudden stuffiness, sneezing and wheezing that often accompanies a hay fever attack. Place 3 or 4 drops of niaouli essential oil onto a handkerchief or tissue and inhale it when a hay fever attack occurs.
Treat Air Filters:
Air filters act as first line of defense against the allergens that cause hay fever. Treat them with essential oils to make them even more effective. Drip 5 drops of eucalyptus, lemon balm or tea tree essential oil on the air filter. The vapors from the essential oils will help you cope better, even if you cannot detect them. At the same time consider diffusing one or more of these essential oils in your home or workspace.
