Also known as dyspepsia, indigestion causes pressure and discomfort in the upper abdominal area, often resulting in symptoms such as bloating, bleaching and nausea. Indigestion may occur shortly after eating, and sometimes mistaken for the heartburn. Overeating, consuming spicy, fried or greasy foods, and drinking alcohol with meals can contribute to the problem. Seek medical attention if indigestion is frequent, as an underlying medical condition could be to blame.
Aniseed essential oil is an excellent remedy for many types of digestive upset, including nausea, vomiting and general indigestion. Diffuse 1 or 2 drops of aniseed essential oil, or directly inhale from the bottle. People who have sensitive skin should avoid contact, as dermatitis can occur. Additionally, the essential oil should not be taken internally.
