Treatment of Nausea with Essential Oils

Nausea:

Many illnesses are accompanied by nausea, which is the feeling of queasiness that warns you that vomiting may be imminent. Nausea is sometimes accompanied by a warm, uncomfortable feeling that spreads through your body; a feeling of dizziness or wooziness may also accompany it. If nausea happens frequently for no apparent reason, see your doctor, as an underlying medical condition could be present.

Fennel Compress:

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Fennel essential oil offers fast relief from nausea particularly when applied with the aid of a hot compress. This remedy is not suitable for children, nor is it safe for women who are pregnant.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. In a small glass bowl, add the carrier oil and fennel essential oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Using your fingertips, apply the blend to the upper abdomen
  3. In a medium bowl, add the hot water
  4. Submerge a towel in the water, wring it out, and apply the compress to the affected area. Leave the compress in a place until it cools to body temperature.
  5. Repeat this treatment every 2-3 hours as needed.

Ginger Smelling Salts:

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Ginger essential oil is among the best remedies available for nausea and is suitable for anyone who is suffering from an upset stomach. Allspice (also known as pimento) essential oil intensifies the effect, however, it may be omitted if it is not available. This remedy can be used by children and women who are pregnant.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Tablespoon Sea Salt
  • 6 Drops Ginger Essential Oil
  • 1 Drop Allspice (or pimento) Essential Oil

Directions:

  1. In a dark colored glass bottle, add the sea salt along with the ginger and allspice essential oil, and shake well to blend.
  2. Inhale from the bottle when feeling nauseous
  3. Repeat this treatment as needed.
