Treatment of Periodontal Disease with Essential Oils

Periodontal disease:

Periodontal disease is a severe form of gum disease that typically begins with gingivitis. Use essential oils to restore health in minor cases of periodontal disease. If the disease is advanced, seek medical intervention.

Myrrh Mouthwash: 

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Myrrh is a potent antibacterial and is ideal for flushing the gums and teeth of plaque and food particles that can complicate periodontal disease.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 tablespoon water oil
  • 4 drops myrrh essential

Directions: 

  1. In a small glass bowl, add the water and myrrh essential oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Swish the blend through entire mouth, pulling it through the teeth with gentle suction. Try to make the treatment last for 10 minutes.
  3. Spit the oil out when finished, then brush your teeth and rinse your mouth.
  4. Repeat this treatment at least once a day.

Lavender Gum Tonic: 

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Lavender soothes pain, kills bacteria, and promotes healing. This remedy does not taste nice; however, it is effective in healing sore, corn promised gums. Use this treatment after brushing your teeth.

Ingredients: 

Directions: 

  1. In a small glass bowl, add water and lavender essential oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Swish the blend through the entire mouth, pulling it through the teeth with gentle suction try to make it last for 5 minutes.
  3. Spit it out when finished. Do not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes afterwards.
  4. Repeat this treatment once a day until the gum condition improves.
