Treatment of Pneumonia with Essential Oils

Pneumonia: 

Pneumonia often follows on the heels of a cold, the flu, or an upper-respiratory infection. Symptoms include a cough with green or blood-tinged mucus, chills and shaking, pain in chest wall that worsens with breathing or coughing, and feelings of weakness and tiredness.  Healthy people often have mild symptoms that don't require medical intervention; however, babies, children. elderly people, and anyone with compromised health should see a doctor, as pneumonia can worsen rapidly.

Cypress Bath: 

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Cypress essential oil has strong warming properties, making it a great essential oil to combat the chills of pneumonia.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Tablespoon Carrier Oil
  • 5 Drops Cypress Essential Oil

Directions: 

  1. In a small glass bowl, add the carrier oil and cypress essential oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Draw a warm bath and add the entire treatment to the running water.
  3. Soak for at least 15 minutes. Use caution when getting out of the bathtub, as it may be slippery.
  4. Repeat this treatment up to 5 times a day as needed.

Niaouli Bath: 

MAKES 1 TREATMENT

Niaouli essential oil is an effective antiseptic and an excellent remedy for easing pneumonia symptoms. This bath allows you to benefit by absorption and by breathing the vapors.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Tablespoon Carrier Oil
  • 8 Drops Niaouli Essential Oil

Directions: 

  1. In a small glass bowl, add the carrier oil and niaouli essential oil, and stir to combine.
  2. Draw a warm bath and add the entire treatment to the running water.
  3. Soak for at least 15 minutes. Use caution when getting out of bathtub, as it may be slippery.
  4. Repeat this treatment up to 4 times a day as needed.
